This new build supports self contained SheepShaver virtual machine bundles with extension. If you want to use a shared folder, you can create one yourself in a convenient location and enter the path to that folder in the field "Unix Root" in preferences. A rom file with default name "Mac OS ROM" or "ROM" will now always be recognized if no rom file name is entered, not only at first boot as described. There is now only one version of the application, not a "S" and a "H" version as described in the manual. If it doesn't work, search the redundantrobot site and find a rom file that would be best for SheepShaver. The most important changes for a standard setup: If SheepShaver cannot find or open a ROM file, you cannot even start to install Mac OS in the emulator. First set you config with the GUI, and after the start error, right click sheepshaver.exe and chose 'run as administrator'. When the updated manual is available, I will announce it in this topic. I will update the manual as soon as I have time to do that. I assume this has something to do with the selected ROM file, but I wouldn't know exactly what since I have not modified it since setting up SheepShaver and it has worked perfectly fine before today. Note that the Setup Guide has not yet been updated for this new build. Whenever I attempt to open SheepShaver, it produces an error stating 'Cannot map ROM: No error.' and then does not start. If you set up SheepShaver for the first time, follow the instruction in the Setup Guide (link also included in the download): Please download files in this item to interact with them on your computer. The discussion about the 25-10-2009 build starts here: This seems to have been solved for most with this 25-10-2009 build. If you close SheepShaver and try to launch it again later on, chances are you will run in this memory conflict issue. Launching SheepShaver right after booting up your computer most often works and the trick is to leave it running the whole time. The most hilarious part is the "NO ERROR" message on the error dialog. The name is a play on ShapeShifter, a Macintosh II emulator (made obsolete by Basilisk II), which is in turn not to be confused with a third-party preference pane for Mac OS X with the same name. It's funny how closing and launching apps causes and/or fixes this issue momentarily. SheepShaver is an open source PowerPC Apple Macintosh emulator originally designed for BeOS and Linux.
